What is Gyanvapi Mosque

Gyanwapi mosque
Gyanvapi mosque is situated in Kashi just near to Vishwanath Temple. Nowadays it is in news again. It is one of mosque built next to the famous Hindu shrine in Kashi like others in all India. This mosque is not a single which is built by Mughal emperor by demolition of other religion secret sacred places. Religious radicalism and zeal is the main reason behind such attack for such motivation of demolition. Gyanvapi Mosque is built by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1669 by demolition of old Shiv Temple. Gyanvapi Mosque controversy is same like Ayodhya Temple. Currently this case is in court. Court directs the Archaeological Survey of India to survey and find out the facts.

What is Gyanvapi Controversy

This controversy is standing since long between Vishwanath Temple and Gyanvapi Mosque. Hindu petitioners say Gyanvapi Mosque is built on the land of Temple and this land belongs to them. Local priests ask permission in 1991 to worship in Gyanvapi as this mosque is the part of temple area. They demand for removal of mosque and land be given to Hindus. But the hearing is stayed by Allahabad High Court.

In 2019, after the court order on Ram Temple, petitioners demand for archaeological survey of Gyanvapi Mosque complex. But again Allahabad High Court stay the order for survey to solve out Gyanvapi Mosque Controversy. Five Hindu women file a case in local court of Kashi to demand daily visit and worship of Maa Shringar Gauri holy site in Gyanvapi Mosque premises. These women further demand that Darshan and worship only in Navratra is not enough to perform all rituals of Maa Shringal Gauri, Lord Ganesha and Hanuman. Western wall of mosque has this place for worship. They demand for restriction to any damage to their idols.

On plea of women petioners, Judge Ravi Kumar orders for videography of Gyanvapi Mosque. But opposition make argument that no order is given by court to take videography in the complex of mosque. Gyanvapi Mosque panel seeks to change Commissioner of the Survey, Ajay Kumar Mishra who violates the places of worship act, 1991 by doing videography inside mosque. Court gives order for no change of commissioner and joining of two more commissioners in archaeological survey of Gyanvapi mosque.

Court orders to open the basement of mosque and submit the report by 17 May. All parties requested to comply the court directions. If someone try to stop the opening the locked gate for survey, FIR will be registered. Court further orders If keys are not found, break the locks and do survey in the complex of mosque. On Friday, a meeting with both parties is done and ask for co-operation in the work of survey. Both sides requested to maintain law and order by police. The survey work goes in peaceful manner and no objection from anyone. All is going normal.

On the same day, Supreme Court refused to stop the survey on approach by Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee to put stay on the survey in the mosque complex to end what is Gyanvapi mosque controversy.

Lets see what happens after the survey team submits the report to court. Keep reading this article.

Dispute on Gyanvapi Mosque

This mosque is a disputed building. Old Kashi Vishwanath Temple is demolished by Aurangzeb and Qutab Din Aibak. The part of ancient temple is clearly visible on the outer walls of mosque. This mosque is built over the left over of original Shiv Temple. It is believed that well is the exact location where Shiv Linga is concealed before demolition of Shiv Temple by Aurangzeb. The destruction of Hindu Temple is considered as indication of warning to non-Muslims living in Varanasi at that time.

Kashi Viswanath Temple built again but demolished multiple times in history. Gyanvapi Mosque has a mix of two architectural style. As a part of walls of Gyanvapi mosque, the old Kashi Temple wall is clearly visible at this time. Gyanvapi Mosque is a structure built over the left over after demolition of Hindu Temple by Aurangzeb. The walls of ancient temple are clearly visible on outer walls of mosque. The status of Nandi and Maa Shringar Gauri clearly indicates as per Hindu belief and temple structure basis. Present temple of Kashi Vishwanath adjacent to mosque built by Ahilya Bai Holkar in 1780.

There are few supportive articles why Aurangzeb demolish the Hindu temple in Kashi. They have their own story with no proof. If it is real as per their myth, then why Aurangzeb destructed Hindu Temples in all other cities. It is purely politically agenda to make the history in wrong direction.

Politics on Gyanwapi Mosque

Meanwhile, survey is in Gyanvapi Mosque, few politicians like Congress MP P Chidambaram requests for no change in place of any worship presently. He references the Places of Worship Act, 1991 passed by Congress Government. All other places except Ram Temple should be unchanged. As it leads conflict and that's why congress movement passed this act.

People are waiting for court analysis of submitted report by survey committee. What honorable court orders, everyone should wait. Some politician wants to gain sympathy at this time by quoting statement in one favor.

After this controversy, another dispute over Krishna Janma Bhoomi is fired again. Petitions for the survey like in Kashi are demanded in Mathura too. Mathura Court is to dispose of all the cases of Shri Krishna Janma Bhoomi dispute within 4 months.

Owaisi is also trying to gain vote bank of Muslim by stating that we would not lose another mosque after babri. What is means. If court finds the result not in favor of Muslims, then what a Muslim will do as per Owaisi. Ram Temple disput is solved by court. And Gyanvapi Mosque controversy is also going to be solved by court. Then what is need of such statement by a politician leader.
